Hobart College or Hobart and William Smith Colleges, are together a liberal arts college offering Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Teaching degrees, and it is located in Geneva, a city in Ontario and Seneca counties, in New York state, USA, with a population of over 13 600 inhabitants.
The college traces its roots back to Geneva Academy, which was founded in 1796, by the Rev. Henry Axtell. It was officially founded in 1822 as Geneva College, and was renamed in honor of its founder, Episcopal bishop John Henry Hobart, in 1852. It currently offers its students `more than 40 majors and 60 minors, research projects, study abroad, service learning and internships`, offering educational programs in a wide range of study areas.
Hobart's athletic teams are known as the Statesmen and William Smith's are nicknamed the Herons. The Colleges compete in NCAA Division III, with the exception of men's lacrosse, which competes in the Division I ECAC Lacrosse League. The official school colors for Hobart are orange and purple and the ones for William Smith are green and white.
Among the noteworthy graduates from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, there are also: Pascal C.J.
